UEM Edgenta, a member of the UEM Group, has been supporting UEM Group’s VDP, an initiative with the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to create and develop competitive Bumiputera entrepreneurs in the construction, property development and expressway related supply chain. We have a pool of registered vendors under various categories including facilities management, infrastructure, construction and consultancy.
Since the official launch of UEM Group’s VDP in June 2015, UEM Edgenta has been actively involved in this programme by providing advisory, intervention programme and Business Excellence (“BE”) workshops and consultancy to selected vendors.
The training sessions include topics on human resource development, technical development, financial & marketing, logistics & warehouse management and certification & recognition in the related areas. These sessions are organised jointly by the company and UEM Group, and facilitated by external training providers in the relevant industry.
Through these training sessions, the vendors gained knowledge on the sustainable way of conducting their business as well as insights on how to address the social, environmental and ethical aspects of running a business.
To date, 10 vendors have enrolled in the VDP (2014: five vendors in Batch 1, 2015: five vendors in Batch 2). These vendors were successfully assessed through the BE assessment where all 5 vendors in Batch 1 have shown improvement in the second year of enrolment. One of these vendors has been nominated by MITI for the Anugerah Kecemerlangan Industri.
