SINGAPORE, 15 December – UEM Edgenta Berhad (“UEM Edgenta” or “Company”) today announced the successful completion of the proposed acquisition of Asia Integrated Facility Solutions Pte. Ltd. (“AIFS”), the holding company of UEMS Pte Ltd (“UEMS”).

Azmir Merican, Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of UEM Edgenta and Chan Cheow Hong, Chief Executive Officer of UEMS jointly briefed senior managers from both companies and functional teams on their strategic directions for 2017 during the first day of business transaction at UEMS’ Singapore Head Office.

The acquisition of UEMS, approved by UEM Edgenta’s shareholders in an Extraordinary General Meeting on 2 December 2016, will allow both parties to adopt and leverage each other’s core strengths to further enhance operating efficiency, whilst maintaining their leading market positions and continuing on an aggressive growth trajectory.

UEM Edgenta presently adopts a strong workforce of over 17,000 in size and business operations in 12 countries worldwide including the immediate addition of Singapore and Taiwan to its portfolio via UEMS’ existing operations. With this acquisition, UEM Edgenta will now expand from a domestic player to a regional hospital support services provider in both public and private healthcare sector servicing over 170 hospitals, exceeding 45,500 beds in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan collectively.
