This was shared during the Launch of the Replacement Through Maintenance Scanning Systems, Computed Tomography event held at Hospital Sultanah Maliha, Langkawi today.
The ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ initiative is created to manage the total equipment lifecycle and improve the quality of patient care. For the first phase of this initiative, the Company will commence with the replacement of Computed Tomography Scanners (“CT Scanners”). Subsequent replacement of imaging machines will include Magnetic Resonance Imaging (“MRI”) and Positron Emission Tomography Scanners (“PET Scanners”), among others.
The new maintenance approach is made possible through the Company’s existing partnership with a leading global provider of medical imaging technology equipment. The new CT Scanners and other imaging equipment supplied supports MoH’s goals of providing patients with modern, state-of-the-art technology that will produce faster and better image quality, eventually leading to quicker diagnoses and improved safety when patients undergo treatment.
“Adopting the use of new and advanced healthcare equipment through initiatives such as ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ is essential as it allows hospitals to improve efficiency and patient care. Our commitment to MoH is to ensure healthcare equipment at the hospitals under our care are properly maintained throughout its lifecycle in order to elevate the patient experience,” said Dr. Nik Fawaz Nik Abdul Aziz, Head of Healthcare Support (Concession), Edgenta Mediserve at the event.
Also present to officiate the event was YB Dr. Lee Boon Chye, Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia, who commented, “Providing premium care to a growing Malaysian population is one of the priority areas for the Ministry. We encourage initiatives from the private sector which will allow our hospitals to provide the services and treatment at par with global standards which can only benefit Malaysians from all walks of life.”
The ‘Replacement Through Maintenance’ approach is just one of the many initiatives introduced by UEM Edgenta to support MoH in its continuous efforts to improve hospital support services. Throughout the years, UEM Edgenta has put in place several initiatives under their energy management programmes which has paved the way for the 32 MoH hospitals it provides support services to be accorded the Energy Management Gold Standard (“EMGS”) 1-Star ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (“AEMAS”) and/or EMGS 2-Star AEMAS ratings.
Overall, UEM Edgenta’s energy efficiency efforts have saved approximately RM23.6 million in its initial 24 months (January 2017 to December 2018) of the programme and successfully reduced the environmental emissions of the aforesaid 32 MoH hospitals.
