UEM Edgenta Explores Academic Ventures in Digital Healthcare, Inks Memorandum of Understanding with UiTM

Full Release: Kuala Lumpur, 9 December – UEM Edgenta Berhad (“UEM Edgenta” or the “Company”) through its wholly-owned subsidiary Edgenta Healthtronics Sdn Bhd (“EHSB”), has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with Universiti Teknologi MARA (“UiTM”) to collaborate on academic ventures and healthcare-related operations which include clinical businesses, scientific ventures and digital healthcare research.

The collaboration focuses on promoting and encouraging innovation in digital healthcare; specifically in the development and adoption of technology to improve training, enhance operational efficiencies and improve clinical outcomes within UiTM Hospitals and clinics by leveraging UEM Edgenta’s expertise in sustainable healthcare support and digital ecosystem.

This was officiated during an MoU Exchange Ceremony today. Present during the signing was Dr. Nik Fawaz Nik Abdul Aziz, Head of Healthcare Solutions, UEM Edgenta and Professor Ts. Dr. Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi MARA alongside Professor Dr. Sazzli Shahlan Kasim, Director of Hospital UiTM.

Dr. Nik Fawaz Nik Abdul Aziz commented, “We are excited to take this important step that provides an avenue for UEM Edgenta and UiTM to identify, plan and execute areas where adoption of technology can be used for better patient care. This undertaking will not only help in fostering the relationship between the two parties but also to cultivate efforts in nurturing local talents and enabling a digital and future-ready workforce, equipped to support Malaysia's digital economy.”

“As the push for digitalisation will continue accelerating in the years ahead, this MoU will provide exposure to UiTM’s greatest asset – our people. We are building new pathways between UiTM and EHSB to fast-track digitisation efforts in our hospitals and clinics. We are grateful to be part of this especially in working closely with EHSB on the upcoming initiatives and to contribute towards nation-building efforts,” said Professor Dr. Sazzli Shahlan Kasim.

Through this strategic partnership, the two parties will conduct joint discussions over the next 12 months focusing on innovation exchanges to explore opportunities in digital healthcare across healthcare facilities including at Sungai Buloh, Selayang and Puncak Alam.
