UEM Edgenta Partners with Zoo Negara to Preserve Wildlife by Sponsoring 100-Year-Old Giant Tortoises and A 5-Year-Old Giraffe

UEM Edgenta mobilizing a team of volunteers comprising 60 participants from UiTM Shah Alam students and Edgenta employees. These dedicated volunteers contributed to gardening and landscaping works, transforming the Zoo's landscapes into vibrant and captivating spaces, earlier today at Zoo Negara.

UEM Edgenta sponsored 20 deserving primary school children from SK Jenderam, Dengkil for a visit to Zoo Negara. This educational opportunity aims to expose these young minds to the wonders of the animal kingdom and engage them in outdoor learning activities.

UEM Edgenta renewed the adoption of a 5-year-old giraffe, Mas Kira, as part of the Company's dedication to conservation efforts and the preservation of wildlife for future generations.

Under their visionary programme “Saving Animals, Serving Community”, UEM Edgenta has taken a significant step towards animal welfare by sponsoring a pair of more than 100-year-old Aldabra Giant Tortoises, affectionately named Do and Re, as well as renewing the adoption of a 5-year-old giraffe, Mas Kira. This extension of support reflects the Company's dedication to conservation efforts and the preservation of wildlife.

Aldabra Giant Tortoises, which originated in the Seychelles, have a lifespan of 80 to 200 years, making them truly remarkable creatures. Giraffes, the majestic giants of the animal kingdom, are native to Africa. The sponsorship from UEM Edgenta will safeguard the well-being of these Aldabra Giant Tortoises and giraffe for the next 12 months, including their welfare, provision of food supply, and veterinary care. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the Company's Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) efforts. Furthermore, supporting animal welfare is increasingly recognized as a key contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”).
